Over 1300 people attended the performance of Holst’s symphonic suite “I Pianeti”, accompanied by an immersive video of the Solar System produced by INAF and VIS.
On Thursday, November 23rd, the Sala Giotto of the new Padova Congress conference center hosted a unique event that sold out with over 1300 spectators. The Orchestra of Padova and Veneto (OPV), conducted by Marco Angius, performed the symphonic suite “I Pianeti” by the English composer Gustav Holst. To make the experience even more immersive, a video with images of the Solar System specially produced for the occasion by INAF – Astronomical Observatory of Padova in collaboration with VIS was broadcast on the largest LED screen in Europe of Padova Congress.
Introducing the musical performance, INAF Director Roberto Ragazzoni gave an informative talk on “I Pianeti”. The event was a collaboration between the Padova Chamber of Commerce, INAF, the Municipality of Padova, and Padova Hall. It began with greetings from the President of the Padova Chamber of Commerce Antonio Santocono, Councilor for Production Activities and Commerce Antonio Bressa, and Vice President of the Orchestra of Padova and Veneto Paolo Giaretta.
The success of the Padova event represents only the beginning of a tour that will take the show to five other Italian cities, including Milano, Roma, and Pisa.
