DAFNE
Inside the electron-positron collider: DAFNE.
An immersive journey into the physics of matter and antimatter
At the INFN National Laboratories of Frascati, DAFNE is a unique electron–positron collider where matter and antimatter meet, annihilating to produce energy and the particle events through which physicists investigate the fundamental structure of matter.

VIS transformed this complex and largely invisible process into an immersive 360° VR experience. Viewers follow the particles throughout their journey, from the linear accelerator and accumulator ring to the collider’s two main rings, discovering how dipole and quadrupole magnets control the beams and guide them towards the interaction point.
Watch the preview on YouTube and experience high-energy physics from inside the collider.
Combining scientific rigour, immersive storytelling, cinematic 3D visualisation and original sound design, the experience makes accelerator physics intelligible and tangible without reducing its complexity. DAFNE demonstrates how VIS connects advanced research with human understanding, creating scientifically accurate experiences for museums, research institutions, educational programmes and public-engagement initiatives.
