VIS brings Galileo’s Legacy at Expo 2025 Osaka

On September 10, 2025, VIS proudly showcased the innovative Galileo’s Legacy project at the Italy Pavilion during Expo 2025 Osaka. Combining immersive VR, hands-on educational workshops, and international collaboration, VIS highlighted the power of science storytelling to transcend cultures and inspire new generations.

On September 10, 2025, VIS took center stage at the Italy Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka with the Galileo’s Legacy project, celebrating the enduring impact of Galileo Galilei through cutting-edge immersive technologies. This initiative was presented in collaboration with INAF, Museo Galileo of Florence, and supported by the Italian Office of Astronomy for Education (I-OAE) and the Office of Astronomy Outreach (OAO).

At the heart of VIS’s contribution was the immersive virtual reality experience Galileo VR. The Life, the Discoveries, the Trial, a 10-minute 360° video that transports viewers into the pivotal moments of Galileo’s life, from his revolutionary discoveries to his historic trial. Produced together with Museo Galileo, this VR experience demonstrates VIS’s mission to merge science and art, creating engaging educational content that stimulates emotions and reinforces understanding through an experiential approach.

Alongside the VR presentation, VIS supported a hands-on educational workshop titled Beyond Galileo: tracking the sunspots. This interactive activity engaged Japanese high school students in retracing Galileo’s observations of sunspots using modern tools, fostering inquiry-based learning and critical thinking through collaborative investigation.

The event also fostered intercultural dialogue, with contributions from the International Astronomical Union’s education offices and local Japanese educators, exemplifying how VIS’s immersive technologies can bridge cultural and linguistic barriers to unite participants in shared scientific discovery.

Marcos Valdes, CEO and Scientific Director of VIS, reflected on the event’s significance:
«Expo Osaka 2025 is the perfect stage for VIS to advance our mission of making science beautiful and accessible. Galileo VR uniquely blends scientific rigor with narrative artistry, allowing users to deeply connect with the legacy of one of history’s greatest scientists. Through immersive experiences, we inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a universal appreciation for science.»

This momentous presentation at Expo 2025 Osaka reaffirms VIS’s role as a pioneer in virtual reality for science outreach, highlighting the company’s dedication to inspiring curiosity and learning through novel immersive technologies and interdisciplinary storytelling.
