VIS participated in the HEAT project’s General Assembly in Barcelona, collaborating with European partners to drive innovation in hybrid eXtended Reality (XR) technologies and create groundbreaking multi-user, multisensorial experiences.
VIS is proud to announce its participation in the recent General Assembly of the HEAT (Hybrid Extended Reality Technologies) project, held in Barcelona, Spain, and hosted by Fundació i2CAT. This meeting marked an important milestone in this ambitious, European Union-funded initiative aimed at transforming eXtended Reality (XR) experiences through cutting-edge hybrid technologies.
The HEAT project, which officially began on January 1, 2023, is a 42-month research and innovation initiative supported under the Horizon Europe program. With a total budget of nearly € 6 million, HEAT brings together 14 partners from 7 European countries, including leading academic institutions, research centers, cultural organizations, and private companies. VIS is honored to be part of this diverse consortium, which includes Università degli Studi di Cagliari (UNICA), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Dublin City University (DCU), CNIT, Transilvania University of Brașov (UTBV), Holografika KFT (HOLO), Fundació i2CAT, Adaptemy Limited (ADAP), Teatro di Sardegna (SART), Irish National Opera (INO), Transilvania Arts & Events Association (ATRAE), Opera Europa (OPEU), and Orange Romania SA (ORO).
HEAT’s mission is to develop innovative hybrid XR experiences that integrate immersive new-media technologies with multisensorial inputs and multi-user social VR environments. The project also focuses on creating feedback-enabled communication systems and optimizing 3D data acquisition while reducing technological costs. By addressing GDPR compliance and ethical considerations, HEAT aims to deliver context-aware and embodied XR applications that are both impactful and accessible across various domains.
For VIS, participating in the HEAT project represents a unique opportunity to contribute its expertise to shaping the future of XR technology. The General Assembly in Barcelona provided an excellent platform for partners to meet in person, share progress updates, and align their strategies for the next phases of development. The collaborative spirit and shared vision among the consortium members reaffirmed the project’s potential to revolutionize how we interact with digital environments.
